Politics Is America’s New Pastime Over Sports By 2-1

Yankee phenom Aaron Judge, Patriots superman Tom Brady, King LeBron James and the greater Wild World of Sports have been shoved aside by America’s new pastime, politics.

The latest Rasmussen Reports survey finds that the country is more tuned into the political battles than sporting contests, by a two-to-one margin.

“A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 57 percent of American adults say they are more interested in politics than in sports. Just 26 percent are more interested in sports, while 17 percent are undecided,” said the survey analysis.

Majorities from both sides of the aisle agree, but more Republicans are into politics over sports than Democrats, 64 percent to 57 percent.

Other highlights from Rasmussen:

Men and women show an equal preference for politics over sports. But those under 40 are far more likely to be interested in sports than older adults.

60% of whites are more interested in politics, compared to 57% of blacks and 51% of other minority Americans.
Those who follow sports events ‘Very Closely’ are evenly divided when asked if they prefer sports or politics more.
