President calls on State Department to begin investigation
During the 2016 presidential campaign, Donald Trump made no secret of his will to see Hillary Clinton prosecuted for criminal activity.
Chants of “lock her up” from supporters followed him around on his campaign trail, and he even told said her face that she should “be in jail” during a live TV debate.
After winning the election, the president backed off saying, “she’d been through enough”, leaving many justice seekers disappointed.
Following the constant push from the Democrats of the “Russian interference” narrative, it now seems as though he’s changed his tune.
President Trump has now instructed Attorney General Jeff Sessions to investigate Hillary Clinton’s crimes including possible Russian collusion.
“So why aren’t the Committees and investigators, and of course our beleaguered A.G., looking into Crooked Hillary’s crimes & Russia relations?” Trump tweeted Monday.
The statement marks the second time Trump has indicated he is unhappy with Sessions’ performance at the country’s top Justice official.
Last week, Trump told reporters he would not have appointed Sessions, a foreign policy adviser to his campaign, to lead the Justice Department if he had known he would recuse himself from the investigation into Trump’s alleged ties with Russia.
On Monday, Trump ranted on Twitter about the continued investigation into Russia’s interference in the U.S. election and whether the Trump campaign worked with the foreign enemy.
“After 1 year of investigation with Zero evidence being found, Chuck Schumer just stated that ‘Democrats should blame ourselves, not Russia,” Trump wrote Monday morning.
